Cox® Technic Delivers Back Pain
Relief for a Challenging Case: Disc Extrusion with Spondylolytic
Spondylolisthesis
Extruded discs by themselves
are painful and many times considered surgical
issues. Spondylolytic spondylolisthesis by itself is a disabling,
painful condition and many times thought to be a surgical
issue necessitating fusion. Combine the two of these in a single patient and the Lynchburg
chiropractic patient and the treating physician like your Lynchburg
chiropractor face a challenge that calls for
gentle, skilled care. A recently published case
report of a patient with an extruded disc – one that
has escaped its outer bands and entered into the spinal canal space
– and spondylolytic spondylolisthesis – involving
separation of the pars interarticularis – described how just
9 visits in 4 weeks resulted in pain relief.
The patient who ranked his pain a 9 out of 10 (a 10 indicating
the worst pain) on the first visit rated it 0 out of 10 on visit 9. Follow-up at 10 years revealed that the patient demonstrated no orthopedic or
neurological issues and recounted no recurrence of the original
symptoms. (1) What was the treatment plan? The Cox® Technic System of
Spinal Pain Management, the same care delivered at our
chiropractic clinic. Palmer Chiropractic Center welcomes challenging

TIP OF THE MONTH:
Enjoy This Apple
Season!
Feed the gut. Lose some weight and raise your
bone density to improve your spine. Reduce your risk of
diabetes and heart disease. Protect the brain. How? Eat an apple!
Apples are extraordinarily healthy! They have few calories, good pre-biotic pectin that feeds the good
gut bacteria, plenty of fiber and water to make you
feel full, lots of antioxidant polyphenols in the peel, acetylcholine-level-preserving features
to protect the brain, and flavonoids that may lower blood pressure,
cholesterol, and stroke risk. (2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8) Apples round
out a healthy chiropractic approach to life!
